Description of Work
The primary purpose of this position is to teach environmental
services to persons with disabilities. Job is located in Goldsboro.
Duties include: directing the work of consumers who have a broad range
of physical and mental challenges; teaching appropriate work behavior,
safety awareness and cleaning skills both in the classroom and in a
real work situation; managing workflow and quality assurance;
assessing client behavior/ability and implementing behavior change
strategies to improve work performance; writing consumer progress
notes; implementing and following wage and hour regulations; assessing
readiness for employment via behavior observation and productivity
measures; and facilitating beneficial relationships with consumers,
staff, employers and community partners.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work with disabled individuals to instruct, supervise,
assess and shape behaviors. Excellent verbal communication skills.
Strong written language skills for documenting progress notes and
superb reading skills to follow training plans and understand other
consumer information. Ability to work independently and within a team
environment and be attentive to detail, particularly in following wage
and hour guidelines. Proficient computer skills for email and word
processing. Experience working with individuals with a variety of
disabling conditions. Considerable knowledge of established cleaning
procedures and techniques and related equipment, such as buffers and
burnishers. Considerable knowledge of aseptic cleaning procedures and
cleaning products. Physical capacity to stand for long periods of
time and lift heavy objects necessary.

Training and Experience Requirements
A. Trades Recruitment Pattern:
Associate's degree from a two-year technical or community college in industrial technology or related field to the technical area assigned and one year of experience in production, trades, or related work that provides the above knowledge and skills; or graduation from high school or equivalent and three years of work experience in production, trades, or related work that
provides the above knowledge and skills; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
B. Human Service Recruitment Pattern:
Associate degree in a Human Services field and one year of experience
working with the population served; or graduation from high school or
equivalent and three years of experience instructing developmental or
physically disabled clients; or an equivalent combination of training
and experience. Management has the option of choosing either A or B in
order to meet the needs of the clients and the program and achieve a
desired balance. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited
institutions.
