MHA Day

MHA DAY
Mental Health Association in North Carolina
The Mental Health Association in NC is hosting an Advocacy and Education Day at the Legislative Building in Court 1300 on Wednesday, June 10 from 9AM till 3PM.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to meet with your General Assembly Legislators to discuss the need for funding mental health services.  The current budget proposal from the House Appropriations Subcommittee for Health and Human Services has cut 1.5 Billion dollars from the budget. We encourage you to call your legislators as soon as possible to schedule an appointment for June 10th.  To learn who your legislators are and their contact information, go to http://capwiz.com/cdpmi/home/.

In addition to legislative visits, there will be an opportunity for legislators and the public to learn what it may feel and sound like to experience symptoms of schizophrenia.  MINDSTORM is a light-weight headset with polarized glasses that allows an individual to experience the symptoms of schizophrenia while sitting through a short (6 minute) 3D theatre experience.  We ask you to encourage your legislators to come by Court 1300 of the Legislative Building to take advantage of MINDSTORM and learn more about the various mental illnesses that affect so many members of our community.

Ticket to Work: New EN RFP Available!

Friends of Ticket to Work,

The new Employment Network (EN) Request for Proposal (RFP) is now available for download!

On May 18, 2009, Social Security posted the new solicitation for Employment Network services (SSA-RFP-09-0010G) on FEDBIZOPPS.GOV.  If you or your organization is ready to apply to become an EN, please download the EN RFP and contact CESSI, the Program Manager for Recruitment and Outreach, for any technical assistance you may need to successfully complete and submit to Social Security for consideration and approval.

In addition, CESSI hosts bi-weekly EN Application Walk-through Teleconferences that will guide you through the entire RFP, section by section.  This is an excellent opportunity to understand the components of the new EN RFP and what your organization is required to complete and submit to be approved as an EN.  For more information, and to register for one of the teleconferences, please visit www.cessi.net/ttw/walkthru.html.

If you have any questions regarding Ticket to Work, or are interested in learning how your organization can become an EN, please call 1-877-743-8237 or visit www.cessi.net/ttw/contactus.html or www.ssa.gov/work.
