Letter from the President |
NCARF Members:
Find at the link below, information about the Section 1915(b) Waiver (or PBH Waiver) as it begins to be available to LMEs throughout the state. We are in the process of better understanding what is the goal of this funding source and how it will be implemented. We are gathering information and will continue to share with you everything we know. Hopefully we will have a session on this topic at the NCARF April Leadership Forum in Wrightsville Beach. http://www.dhhs.state.nc.us/dma/lme/MHDDSA1915b.pdf As you are considering talking to your legislators or giving your feedback on the Coalition survey, be aware that the word is that the state budget for the coming year will need to be cut additional amounts. Originally projected to be 3-5%, but now sounds like it might be 5-7%. We need to continue to be heard and make sure consumers are being heard about what budget cuts mean to them personally.
Finally, (definitely last but NOT LEAST) find attached information about Town Hall meetings that will be hosted by the Coalition. These sessions are a perfect opportunity for providers, staff, individuals receiving services, their families, their advocates to make their voices heard about what funding changes and budget cuts have done and will do to services.
ACTION REQUESTED: You are urged to share this information broadly and definitely attend the Coalition Town Hall meeting in your area. And, don't forget to get your legislators and county commissioners in your doors and tell them about what is going on in your area.
Please contact me if you have questions or concerns. Sincerely,
Alicia Camacho NCARF President 2009-2010
