NCARF: About Us

What is NCARF?

NCARF is the North Carolina Association of Rehabilitation Facilities, the only organization solely representing community rehabilitation programs. Our mission is to support members that provide programs and services to persons with employment barriers.  Founded in 1965, NCARF is an established resource for influence, information, education and training, networking, and collaboration with member facilities.

Who are our Members?

We are comprised of non-profit organizations that provide employment opportunities, training, and job placement to persons with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Our member organizations contract with a variety of state agencies including: the Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, the Division of Services for the Blind, the Division of Social Services, and Workforce Development Boards. 


In addition, our member organization have strong ties to the industry with several being ISO 9000 Certified.  Many of the Fortune 500 companies outsource work to our members.  They have found that our members provide a high quality service at a reasonable price.

What service does NCARF provide to its members???


Influence - your voice will be heard.

  • System Change leadership in the reform process and representation to various organizations and work groups (e.g. DD Consortium, The Coalition, and Provider Relations Work group).

  • Executive and Legislative Branch advocacy with State Departments and Divisions through work groups and committee representation, presentations, and printed material.

Information - critical to the survival of CRPs

  • Updates, including pertinent legislative information to keep you up-to-date on the latest trends and legislations.

  • Website bulletin board.

  • Informational E-mail.

Education and Training - programs to hone your staffs' skills and your management skills and to enhance personal and professional growth.

  • One annual statewide conference and Trade Show.

  • Seminars regarding issues that affect our members.

  • Reduced rates for training programs.

Networking - a network of peers who will give? you the benefit of their experience.

  • Semi-annual Directors' Forums provide opportunities to network with peers on issues critical to CRPs

  • Involvement with one of NCARF's committees and task forces to further information exchanges.
